A Teaching From The Branches — Psychedelics, Catalysts & Expanded States

The Moment You Realize You Don’t Have to Keep Being the Same Person

Most of us keep dropping the needle into the same groove without realizing it. The same thoughts. The same reactions. The same version of ourselves. Sometimes a catalyst gives you enough space to step outside that pattern and finally see it from somewhere new.

0:01 Think of your life like a record spinning over and over. Needle keeps dropping into the same groove, playing the same patterns, the same thoughts, the same reactions.

0:12 A catalyst lifts the needle and sets it down somewhere new. Sometimes it’s a different groove. Sometimes it feels like a completely different record. And sometimes it’s like the whole thing starts spinning in a new direction. And you begin seeing, hearing, and feeling your life in a way you never have before.

0:28 When I say it helps you go deeper into yourself, I mean it takes you below the identity you’ve built and brings you closer to what actually feels true. Not just thinking about your life, but feeling what’s aligned and what isn’t.

0:44 Most people are running the same patterns over and over and don’t even realize it because it just feels normal. And most people never step outside of those patterns. They just keep living them.

1:01 A catalyst can break that pattern and lets you step outside of what you’ve been caught up in. And from there, you can start to see clearly what’s real for you, what isn’t.

1:10 These are some of the most profound moments you can experience. Not because something’s being added, but because something is being seen or removed, and things can finally come into focus.

1:20 A lot of people are hurting and they’re looking for healing. They can feel that something’s off, but they can’t actually see what it is. It’s just sitting there in the background affecting how they think, how they feel, how they move through their life. These experiences bring it to the surface, not as an idea, but as something you’re directly experiencing.

1:44 And once you see it like that, you can’t unsee it. Psychedelics act like the true serum for the human soul. But the important part is it’s your truth and no one else’s. It’s what actually is there underneath everything else.

2:02 A lot of this is hard to explain until you experience it for yourself. You can’t fully translate these states into words. They have to be felt. And that’s how real change happens through direct experience.

2:18 Catalysts have completely shifted my entire life, and they’re some of the most powerful tools I’ve worked with, but they’re not the only way.

2:24 There are people who reach incredibly deep states of awareness without ever using anything like this, so they’re not required, but they can greatly accelerate the process if you choose to work with them. That’s why we call them catalysts.

2:39 These experiences can show you something real. They can shift how you see yourself, how you see your life.

2:45 But what you do with that is what actually creates the change.

What Actually Creates the Change

Start By Noticing

What if the version of you that feels permanent is partly just a groove you keep falling back into?

Most of us repeat the same mental and emotional patterns so often that they stop feeling like patterns. They just feel like who we are. The same thoughts show up. The same reactions follow. And because we rarely step outside of them, we assume that is simply the way things are.

A catalyst can interrupt that for a moment. It can lift the needle out of the groove and give you a different place to look from. Sometimes what becomes clear is something you already knew underneath everything else. What feels aligned. What does not. What you have been carrying. What you may be ready to change.

A catalyst can interrupt that for a moment. It can lift the needle out of the groove and give you a different place to look from. Sometimes what becomes clear is something you already knew underneath everything else. What feels aligned. What does not. What you have been carrying. What you may be ready to change.

What To Notice

What can happen when the usual pattern gets interrupted.

01
The groove can feel like you

When you have thought, felt, and reacted in the same ways for long enough, the pattern starts to feel normal. You may not even realize how much of your life is being shaped by it.

02
A catalyst can create space

Sometimes the most important shift is simply being able to step outside what you have been caught up in. From there, you may see yourself and your life from an angle that was not available before.

03
Some things have to be felt

You can think about alignment for years. Direct experience is different. Sometimes you feel what is true, what is off, or what has been sitting underneath everything else before you can fully explain it.

04
What you see is yours

The important part is not somebody else telling you what your experience means. What matters is what becomes real for you underneath the identities, stories, and expectations you have been carrying.

05
They are catalysts, not requirements

Psychedelics can be powerful, but they are not the only way to go deep. People reach profound states of awareness through many paths. A catalyst may accelerate something, but it is not the destination.

06
The experience is not the change

An experience can show you something real. It can shift the way you see yourself. But what happens next matters. What you do with what you saw is what begins to turn insight into a different life.

SIT WITH THIS

Look at the groove you keep returning to.

You do not need a psychedelic experience to sit with these questions. Just notice what is already true in your life.

01

What thought, reaction, or emotional pattern keeps showing up so often that it has started to feel like “just who you are”?

02

Is there anything in your life that has felt slightly off for a long time, even if you have not been able to clearly name why?

03

Have you ever had a moment when you suddenly saw yourself, a relationship, or your life differently and could not completely go back to seeing it the old way?

04

If something important became completely clear to you today, what would it look like to actually live that insight instead of only understanding it?

Try This: Pick one pattern you keep repeating. Do not try to force it away. Just imagine stepping outside of it for a moment, like lifting the needle off the record. Ask yourself: if I did not automatically think, feel, or react this way, what else might be true? Then notice what comes up.

1.

Different medicines, different ways in — each catalyst has its own effects, its own intelligence, and its own way of working with you.

2.

See what is normally hidden — these experiences can bring patterns, emotions, and parts of yourself to the surface that may have been sitting underneath everything else.

3.

Reconnect with something deeper — some expanded states can bring you closer to what feels underneath the ego, conditioning, and the identity you have built.

4.

The experience can open the door — but you are still the one who has to walk through it. What is revealed only matters if you work with it afterward.

5.

Integration is what makes the difference — bring what you saw back into your actual life. These tools can support your path, but they do not define it.

These are powerful tools, and they deserve respect. They are not for everyone. Take your time. Learn. Feel into it. Start slowly. And decide what actually feels right for you.

Where This Fits In The Blueprint

Branches → Psychedelics, Catalysts & Expanded States

This branch explores psychedelics, entheogens, and other catalysts that can open deeper states of consciousness, reveal hidden patterns, and reconnect you with parts of yourself that are harder to access in everyday life. But the experience is only the beginning. What matters is what you do with what is revealed.

What you do with what you see is what creates the change.

A catalyst can interrupt the pattern. It can show you something real. It can help you see yourself or your life differently. But the experience is not the endpoint. The question is what you bring back with you and how you begin living from what became clear.
